The Tri-Beam wooden design is constructed of 4 sections of 3/4 inch solid cypress wood that form one single wooden beam for stability and strength. Cypress wood naturally maintains inherent oils that enable it to withstands the elements; turning the color of pewter with age. The steel support are welded for higher weight capacity and coated with black paint using the Cape Shield finishing process only from Hatteras Hammocks. Cape Shield is a special process of cleaning, preparing, and powder coating the stand to make it weather resistant and give you many years of enjoyment. Galvanized hardware provides superior support for hammock stand construction. Cypress is well known for its resistance to decay and insects making it the ideal choice for outdoor applications. This is due to the unique characteristics of the wood itself. Cypress produces a naturally occurring preservative "cypressine" which gives it a head start against the harshest environmental conditions.
